According to an Apple patent, the company is interested in building a future AirPods case with a built-in display, resembling an iPod nano.

Look, Apple files patents for a lot of stuff that never really makes it out as a finished product, and this feels a lot like vaporware, but you have to imagine they would ship so so many of these AirPod/iPod hybrids if they did ship.

I think the biggest thing would be caching support for Apple Music, but if they had enough onboard memory, I’d be buying one for the kids no questions asked.
